What is Required for 12 Mb Business DSL?

* Two active phone lines from AT&T
* Two Enhanced Motorola modems
* One Linksys router with special firmware that we provide.

* Two 6 Mb Business DSL lines from Atlantic Nexus - one for each of the two active phone lines. (Type "12 Mb MLPPP" in the comment section)

*Service will be turned-up and preconfigured hardware shipped within 30 days.

*Not all locations qualify for 12 Mb. Prequalification will be performed prior to service installation. In most cases, 7 Mb x 768 kb or 3 Mb x 512 kb may be available if 12 Mb is not. Availability based on quality of both phone lines and distance from local Telco facility.

Do I have to have a telephone line with the phone company?

Yes, at this time, an active telephone line with the phone company is required for Atlantic Nexus to provide service.

Do you block ports or filter my traffic?

No, Atlantic Nexus does not block TCP/UDP ports in or out.

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover for residential customers.
In addition to credit card payments, we accept corporate checks for business accounts.

Do you provide newsgroup servers?

Atlantic Nexus does not currently provide Newsgroup servers.
There are many popular, free newsgroups available on the internet and others on a fee basis. Please use any popular search engine and search on newsgroups.

Is a dial-up account included with my service?

In order to keep customer costs down, we do not offer a free dial up account with our DSL service. However, we can provide dial-up service as an additional monthly service for a nominal fee. If you are going on vacation or are away from home on an occasional basis, we can also provide you with temporary dial-up access. Please contact us and provide the time frame you will need the dial-up access and the area code you will be calling from and we will be happy to provide a temporary account.

Do I have to load software on my computer?

No additional software is needed to use our DSL service. All connections are hardware based with the use of a router. Windows XP, Vista, Mac OSX, and Linux users may connect directly with a modem. The necessary software for this type of connection is already built into the Windows XP, Vista, Mac OSX, and Linux operating systems. Older operating systems, such as Windows 98, 2000, and ME require a router which will have the PPP software built in.

How long is the service contract?

Residential service comes with a six month contract.
Business service comes with a month-to-month contract.
